We invite you to join us for this year’s Speak! Move! Change virtual series in honor of Black Maternal Health Week. Speak, Move, women, birthing people, their families and communities. The collective utilizes art, ritual, information, education and collective discourse to speak truth, move systems and change outcomes.
This year's event will be an immersive, transformative virtual event designed to guide participants on a symbolic journey toward reproductive liberation.
Grounded in the resilience, ingenuity, and ancestral technology of Black people, this event honors historical movements such as the Underground Railroad and the Green Book Negro Traveler’s Guide while integrating modern innovations like the Irth App; the only “Yelp-like” review and rating app for Black and Brown women and birthing people in the United States to find and leave reviews of maternity and pediatric physicians and birthing hospitals.
Participants will embark on a powerful session entitled “The Reproductive Freedom Train: An Afrofuturistic Journey To Liberation”, a metaphorical journey across the United States, modeled by the historical Underground Railroad and the Negro Motorist Green Book. The freedom journey will follow Black women, birthing people, their babies and families as they seek to “liberate” themselves from the bondage of racism, oppression, injustice and adverse outcomes in the reproductive healthcare system.
Event Times: Friday, April 25, 2025 from 6pm-9pm EST & Saturday, April 26, 2025 from 1pm-4pm
